About this deal

All water changers included a single fitting that connected the water changer to the faucet, like the ones pictured above. They might all look different, but they are the same-sized fitting. If it helps i keep freshwater fish, 40 odd neon tetras, peal, yellow, and blue gourami, and a few corydoras. http://youtu.be/V3dhg5ylCnQ Video can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: How To Use the Python No Spill Clean & Fill | Big Al's (http://youtu.be/V3dhg5ylCnQ) So how does Python Water Changer Work?

Don’t get me wrong. It fits what I assume to be the most common type. But there are going to be plenty of you, say with a spray faucet or faucet without threading, that will not be able to use your water changer out of the box.

I built two different tank devices. The first was simply a ‘wand’ that is comprised of the hose adaptor, some PVC pipe and one 45º fitting. I use this hand held to spot remove detris from specific places in the tank. Most of the time, this is the fill device I use. I decided to use 1/2″ pipe as it seems this will be plenty of flow for our little aquarium and should work fine even on a larger tank. See the picture for the components I used and how they go together. Just cut pipe sections that are appropriate and test fit. Make sure to glue this assembly together before you use the shut-off valve as the pressure could blow fittings off and make a mess. The Python utilizes a siphoning effect to remove dirty tank water and debris from the substrate while fresh water flows in. Control the suction as needed with the on/off switch. Build quality– Is it a quality product? A water changer is disposable, but it should be made from durable components and hold up against typical use.

Sure, this problem is easily overcome. A trip to your local hardware store is all it takes to find an adapter or two capable of linking your water changer to your faucet.

Given that most brands use plastic faucet adapters, it would hardly be an expensive addition to include them in the box. So far, I’m hoping that I can use a brass, threaded, 3/4″ T fitting, all female ends, which I plan to attach to the male end of a brass shut off valve ( exactly the same as what you would use for a garden hose). Don’t be afraid to detach the gravel tubing and use the Python water changer hose directly for customized spot cleaning. During testing, we actually struggled to come up with any major complaints about the Python water changer. It’s a simple quality product that does what it promises and better than any other product on the market. Interestingly, all 5 of these water changers are similar both in design and operation. I guess there are only so many ways that you can style a glorified garden hose.

An alternative would be an electric pump on the end of a hose to get the water lifted to a higher elevation, say to dump into a sink. This is a solution you would have to rig up yourself, and would be complicated. Most fish experts would recommend that you change about a quarter of the total water in the tank once per week. However, changing the water in your tank can be extremely messy and laborious, but not when you have a good water changer but what is the best option? Python water changers get discussed a lot so let’s look closer and see how they compared to other options. This is the piece that connects to your faucet. As you drain your aquarium, faucet water flows out the bottom and into your sink. Are you having trouble keeping your aquarium clean? It is a big problem that affects many people around the world. You could have a really good filter combined with a great protein skimmer, but sometimes that still just is not enough. For that reason, aquariums need to have their water changed every now and then.

Despite this, the hose that came with the Deep Blue Hydromaxx was perhaps our favorite of all the water changers we tested. No matter how much you kinked, twisted or stomped on the hosing, it returned to its original state in seconds. If you find cleaning your aquarium relaxing (you wouldn’t be the first!) and like to take things slowly, then this might not be an issue at all. One end of the T fitting will attach to an adapter, and that goes to the faucet. The other end will have the shut off valve on it and the ‘T’ in the middle has the pressure rated filler hose attached. I won’t know if it will work until I try it but, I am hopeful. We also liked the design of the handle used to clean and fill the aquarium. Even more so than Python’s.
